Due to a bequest from the Estate of Doris Mildred Parsons in 2004, the Butters Foundation has been presenting successful students in the 2nd year of the Special Care Counselling program of Champlain Regional College-Lennoxville Campus with bursaries for each of the last 10 years.
Ms. Parsons was born and raised in Moe’s River and received her teaching certificate at MacDonald College in Ste-Anne-De-Bellevue. She had a long teaching career in the English public system in the Townships, with periods in the Magog and Cowansville secondary schools. She was an avid and successful investor, and over the years, amassed assets of over a million dollars. She was a strong supporter of the Brome Missisquoi-Perkins Hospital and other local charities. Her interest in nurturing students never waned. Her bequest to the Butters Foundation was part of her legacy to the Eastern Townships and its people. The Butters Foundation is proud to support bursary programs that promote student success in rehabilitation studies.
The 2015-16 winner was Danielle Robertson, seen here receiving a cheque for $2000. From left to right, Catherine Filteau, Academic Dean, Ron Creary, DG of the Butters Foundation, Danielle Robertson, Bursary winner, and Zita Mueller, Program Coordinator.
