The Typhons Swim Club operates out of the Cowansville Municipal pool, under the direction of retired journalist, Jean-François Doré. They meet on a regular basis to practice for regional, national and international swim meets sponsored by the Special Olympics movement. The Butters Foundation has supported the club for the past 3 years.
On December 14th, 2013 the club will be hosting a swimming competition for the 2nd year in a row at the municipal pool in Cowansville. The 2012 such event has been nominated in the “Best Event” category in the upcoming 2013 OSQ (Olympiques speciaux du Québec) Annual Conference & Gala. Let’s hope for the best.
In 2012, the club sent 3 members to the provincial Special Olympic Games, representing the Richelieu-Yamaska region. They brought back 9 medals, (see photo below), under the coaching of Jean-Baptiste Nado and Mélika Lepître.
